AS FIBER ® Extending Asphalt Service Life and Preventing Damage
Asphalt road surfaces are susceptible to damage caused by tensile forces, leading to issues such as thermal cracking, fatigue cracks, and rut formation. These problems not only compromise the integrity of the roads but also result in costly repairs.
Strengthening Asphalt Surfaces and Defending Against Tensile Forces
AS FIBER® aramid fibers offer a solution to these challenges by reinforcing asphalt surfaces. They enhance the ability of asphalt to absorb tensile forces without sustaining damage. The three-dimensional reinforcement provided by these fibers is evenly distributed throughout the entire thickness of the asphalt, ensuring optimal strength and durability
Effectiveness Testing: AS FIBER® a Positive Impact on Asphalt Mixtures
Comprehensive tests on AC 11 DS / AC 16 DS mixtures have demonstrated the effectiveness of AS FIBER® fibers. Results from rut formation and compressive strength tests provide compelling evidence of their positive impact. Additionally, thermal stress restrained specimen testing has revealed impressive figures, including low cracking temperatures as low as -26.3 °C and a high measured failure stress of 4,470 N/mm².
Comparative Analysis: AS FIBER® for Durable Asphalt Surfaces
Specimens made from PA 11 mixtures with and without fiber reinforcement have shown that sections without fibers experience ten times higher surface wear. This highlights the significant contribution of AS FIBER® asphalt fibers in creating longer-lasting asphalt surfaces.
AS FIBER® fibers address the problem of asphalt surface damage by reducing thermal cracking, fatigue cracks, and rut formation. The effectiveness of these fibers is substantiated by rigorous testing, showcasing their ability to improve the durability and longevity of asphalt roads.

Performance test:
In performance tests, the modified mixture showed superior results compared to the non-fiber specimens.
The modified mixture exhibited significantly shallower rut depths and lower strain rates than the conventional mixture (AC 11 DS).
Even without wax modification, the modified mixture with AS FIBER® asphalt fibers demonstrated increased strength, even at high temperatures.
These findings indicate that the modified mixture analyzed in the tests will have considerably longer service lives than conventionally manufactured AC 11 DS mixtures.
The key characteristics of the modified mixture aligned with industry standards (ZTV Asphalt-StB and TL Asphalt-StB).
