Product description

Wiking® Filtration Fibres are made of polypropylene, which has been extruded into thin tows of multifilament or monofilament fibre – depending on customer requirements. Their unique features make them ideal for use in needle felts, knitted structures and woven fabrics, for improving the efficiency of filtration.

Chemically and biologically resistant

Unlike all other synthetic fibres, polypropylene fibres are resistant to both acids and bases. Wiking® Filtration Fibres are therefore widely used in filtration applications where chemical resistance is vital. Moreover, the fibres do not rot and have a natural ability to withstand attacks by insects, microorganisms or mould.

No static electricity

For the production of Wiking® Filtration Fibres, we are able to produce at a slow speed to avoid the occurrence of static electricity. This will preclude the customer from having to use a special oil to remove the static electricity before using the fibres for filtration. The anti-static property of Wiking® Filtration Fibres even surpasses that of polyamide and wool fibres.

Low thermal conductivity

Wiking® Filtration Fibres have very low thermal conductivity, which makes them excellent insulators of heat, sound and static electricity.

Additionally, Wiking® Filtration Fibres do not absorb water. Of all types of synthetic fibre, the polypropylene fibres have the lowest rate of moisture absorption. Hence, quick drying of the fibres is guaranteed.

Flexible production to your needs

Our Wiking® Filtration Fibres are manufactured in accordance with customer requirements. The fibres can also be specially treated with UV stabilizers during manufacturing to protect the filtration media from damages caused by UV sunlight.
