Wiking® Technical Fibres for paper reinforcement are made of polypropylene, which has been extruded into thin tows of monofilament fibre – depending on customer requirements. Due to their high tensile strength and resistance to chemical and biological attacks, the fibres are excellent for enhancing the durability of paper.
Low density
Polypropylene fibres are the lightest of all synthetic fibres (measure in density). This means that polypropylene fibres can provide the required area coverage and strength at a lower weight.Chemically and biologically resistant
Unlike all other synthetic fibres on the market, polypropylene fibres are resistant to both acids and bases. Hence, Wiking® Technical Fibres will ensure a highly durable paper. Moreover, the fibres do not rot and have a natural ability to withstand attacks by insects and microorganisms. No water and moisture absorption
Wiking® Technical Fibres also enhance the performance of wet paper. The polypropylene fibres do not absorb water and have the lowest rate of moisture absorption in comparison to all other types of synthetic fibre. Hence, a quick drying of the fibres is guaranteed.Whether wet or dry, Wiking® Technical Fibres will have the same tensile strength – whereas many other fibre types will lose strength when wet. Tear strength of the paper therefore remains high when the paper is wet.
Flexible production to your needs
Our Wiking® Filtration Fibres are manufactured in accordance with customer requirements. The fibres can also be specially treated with UV stabilizers during manufacturing, to protect the fibres from damage caused by UV sunlight.
