Applications of construction fibres
Fibres for reinforced cement render
We offer a special range of Wiking® Construction Fibres for cement rendering. The fibres are especially developed for enhancing the performance of cement render and will make cement rendering a more cost-effective project.
Reduction of plastic shrinkage cracks
When Wiking® Construction Fibres are added to the mix of cement render, the fibres will disperse and form a three-dimensional reinforcement system to prevent plastic shrinkage cracking. The result is a more durable cement render and the prevention of fine-drawn cracks on the surface.
Reduced permeability
If using a non-fibrous mix of cement render, hydrated lime (a byproduct of hydrogenated cement) may cause efflorescence and saltpeter rot, which can leave ugly marks on the finished product. Wiking® Construction Fibres will considerably reduce these problems by securing a low permeability.
Increased adhesion
When rendering a surface – whether brick, cement or stone – it may be a problem getting the cement mix to stick. This lack of adhesion can lead to the formation of cracks, and any impact on the surface will cause the cement material to delaminate. However, if Wiking® Construction Fibres are added to the cement render, the fibres ensure a high water-to-cement ratio at the point of contact, whereby the strength of adhesion is maximised.
